Wrapped and Ready To Go!

We take great care in preparing shipments.  We unitize the cartons by stacking them in an alternating fashion from one tier to another, to avoid cartons from splitting apart from the pallet.  We double plastic wrap the pallets, and use extra plastic around the base to unitize the bottom tier of cartons to the pallet.  We top the pallets with plastic wrap (to keep moisture out), then place our logo-branded “Do Not Break Shrink Wrap” tape so that it is visible on all sides and evidence of an issue beyond Rasmussen’s location if the plastic wrap or tape is broken.

We then take photos of all four sides of each pallet to memorialize how the shipment looked before it left Rasmussen.

When receiving a shipment, signing the delivery receipt without any exceptions or notations clears the freight carrier of any responsibility and forfeits any rights you have for recourse should discrepancies be found later.  Before signing the Delivery Receipt, you should:
1) Inspect the shipment for any damage or discrepancy, such as torn or missing plastic wrap, plastic wrap of any color other than clear, or missing of our special logo “Do Not Break Shrink Wrap” tape.
2) Count the number of cartons and compare against the packing list.
3) Take photos of any damage or discrepancy.
4) Note all damage and discrepancies on the delivery receipt by writing “EXCEPTION”, then detailing the issues.
5) Please contact Rasmussen immediately to report any issues and to ask any questions.  We will then contact our freight company representative, as appropriate, to assist in the resolution of the issues.

It is very difficult to deal with freight companies after-the-fact on a clear signed delivery receipt.  We know that the truckers want to drop and go, but taking a few moments to scrutinize the shipment before signing the delivery receipt will save lots of time, effort, and gray hairs if there are issues.
