Happy Independence Day!
Rasmussen Gas Logs will be closed in observance of Independence Day Thursday, July 4 and Friday, July 5. We will reopen Monday, July 8 at 8:00 AM PDT.The fifty-six signers of the Declaration of Independence were some of the most accomplished men in the colonies in 1776. By signing this document, they pledged “to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.” They felt so strongly that breaking ties with the King of Great Britain was the only way for Americans to live under a government that upheld the self-evident Truths that “all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.” The signers were willing to lose all their wealth, as well as their lives, when they declared their independence from the strongest, most powerful country of their day.

Here we are, 237 years later. While some in our country put their lives on the line for us and our country’s ideals while serving in the military and public safety organizations (prayers for the Arizona 19), most of us will spend Independence Day grilling and spending time with family and friends. There is nothing wrong with that, but I suggest that you spend a few minutes in reflection on the many sacrifices Americans have made throughout our history to secure the blessings of liberty for our countrymen.
